Hsin Cheng “Johnson” Chang, 79, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 7th, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was the 6th son of Dai Chien Chang and Vang Win Shu, born on April 10th, 1941 in Chengdu, Sichuan, China.
He lived in Hong Kong, Mendoza, Argentina, and was raised in Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil.
He immigrated to the United States in 1969 to Carmel by the Sea, California.
He spent decades in California and in 2006, he retired to Hillsboro, Oregon, and finally to Cornelius, Oregon.
He had a career in the hospitality field and was also the owner and chef of Chinese Sichuan Restaurant in Monterey, California.
He spoke multiple languages, English, Portuguese, Spanish, and various Chinese dialects. He had a passion for gardening, landscaping, classical music, history, geography, and a great love and care for animals and the environment.
His generosity was well known. He would help anyone in need whether he knew them or not. He also supported numerous charities throughout his life.
He was a wonderful husband and a great father who was loved by all.
Hsin Cheng Chang is survived by his wife, two sons, and granddaughter.
